Dinosaur fun

We have been following the children's interests very carefully and, since we have a lot of interest in dinosaurs, we have been learning all about them!
First of all we needed to know what our dino experts knew. Some knew lots and have been amazing Teaching assistants!!

We've all enjoyed doing the dinosaur stomp!








We have been palaeontologists and have looked digging for and exploring bones.






We were very excited to find some dinosaur eggs. I wonder what's inside?...



We enjoyed trying to free the dinosaurs from the frozen eggs too. How could we do this quickly? Some knew we needed warmth to make the ice melt. We talked about how ice on the road is melted and then showed the children the effects that salt had on melting the ice.

We measured actual size t-Rex footprints.

Dough disco

You may have heard the children talking about 'Dough disco' at home. Well, this is a great activity to develop children's fine motor skills in a fun and lively way.
There are various different moves which we do, all of which help and develop the fine motor development. The children especially enjoy the squeeze!! 
(1)Ball it!

(2) Pat it!

(3)Making a sausage:



(4) Diving and playing the piano





(5) Big squeeze!


(6) Making a pizza

And finally the doughnut!




We have been having fun on the ride-on toys too. This is great for our physical gross motor skills. It also develops our personal and social skills as some of the vehicles involve working together and sharing.








And again, carrying on with physical development, saw great play with a cardboard box!!

We saw ' Jack in the box' appear after we counted back from 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0...
